The longer the seizures are allowed to progress, the more likely the permanent CNS damage.
Epilepsia partialis continua is repeated partial seizures without loss of consciousness. Often the patient's ability to follow simple command is retained.
Altered mental state, diminished responsiveness, confusion, amnesia, or dream-like states without motor symptoms suggest continuous absence seizures.
