Signs of raised intracranial pressure
- Headache
- Decreased level of consciousness
- Papilloedema
- Vomiting
Headache is much more common in haemorrhagic stroke than ischaemic ones.
Features to note on physical examination
- Fever
- Skin signs
* Signs of emboli - Janeway lesion, Osler nodes
* Signs of bleeding dyscrasia - ecchymosis or petechiae
- Fundoscopy
* Papilloedema
* Preretinal haemorrhage
* Hypertensive retinopathy
- Neurological examination
